Article: THE Quickest Iced Chai Latte

THE Quickest Iced Chai Latte
We're not even joking when we say this is THE quickest AND easiest iced chai latte you will ever make. Done in 30 seconds. No joke! This recipe combines our liquid chai tea concentrate with soy milk and a touch of maple syrup - shaken, not stirred. Our secret tool? A cocktail shaker.

Now, we realise it's already autumn and so a warming hot chai would be more suitable. But we don't know if you've noticed, we've had quite warm days all of summer and it looks to continue for a bit longer. Are we complaining? Absolutely not! It's so very rare for Melbourne to have consistent warm days so we have been thriving in this weather! Needless to say, the warmer days are dissipating in the south-east part of the country, but for our counterparts in the northern states, it will be quite warm for some time yet. And an iced chai latte is just the thing needed to cool off from the heat.
How to make quick & easy iced chai latte?
It's never been easier with our chai concentrates. Being in liquid form, there is no steeping, no waiting and most importantly, no mess. We've done the hard work of brewing a perfectly balanced, aromatic and tasty chai concentrate. The hardest thing you'll have to do is decide on which flavour chai you want to turn in to a refreshing iced chai latte!

What milk to use?
This is personal preference. We like to use soy milk for its creaminess. You can also try it with:
- Almond milk
- Oat milk
- Coconut milk
- Tiger Nut milk
- Cow's milk
We've tried them all but there's nothing quite like creamy soy milk with a touch of sweetness to truly enjoy this refreshing latte.

Speaking of which, what sweetener should you use?
Whatever you choose, make sure to use a liquid sweetener. This is highly recommended. Why? It blends easily with the iced milk. We used maple syrup but you could also try:
- Honey, the runny type
- Agave syrup
- Date syrup
- Coconut sugar syrup (we make this ourselves and always have it on hand especially for market season)
- Simple syrup
Again, this is personal preference. You-Do-You-Boo!
What tools do you need?
This is our secret weapon - a cocktail shaker and a strainer. It makes it easy to add all of the ingredients in the vessel, slap on the lid and give it a heady shake. You'll want to shake it vigorously for about 20 - 30 seconds. Not only will this chill everything and blend the sweetener, it also creates the frothiest head - no milk frother required. You're welcome!

Remove the lid, pop on the strainer and gently pour 3/4 of the chai latte in to a glass. Remove the strainer and pour the rest in the glass with the ice and froth. Sprinkle the fluffy frothy cloud with cinnamon....SWOON.
What if I don't have any chai concentrates?
They're easy enough to make. Grab yourself a few tea bags of chai from your local and steep it in a small amount of hot water (add more water if you prefer a weaker flavour) for a maximum of 4 minutes. This ensures it is not tanic to the palate. Make sure the water is recently boiled. Black tea leaves are fully oxidised and will require hot water between 95C-100C for best results. Remove tea bags and wait for it to cool, ready for use.
